East Lothian pensioner rushed to Edinburgh hospital after being hit by car

A 79-year-old cyclist was rushed to an Edinburgh hospital after a car knocked him off his bike.

The man was hit at around 10.15 am on Sunday, April 23, on the High Street at the junction with Brewery Lane in Dunbar in East Lothian.

He was rushed to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment

Officers are now appealing for information for any witnesses or dash-cam footage.

In a statement from Police Scotland, it reads: "Officers are appealing for information following a crash involving a cyclist and car in Dunbar.

"The cyclist, a 79-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"The driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra, a 60-year-old woman, was not injured.

"Police Constable Stewart Logan said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened are ongoing.

“Anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that can assist is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 1121 of Sunday, April 23, 2023.”
