An emergency fire crew were called out to an East Lothian beauty spot this week after it went up in smoke.
Firefighters were pictured on Monday (June 20) as they worked to extinguish the blaze at Gullane beach after the dunes caught alight. Large plumes of smoke were seen heading upwards from the beach, with an area of the beauty spot cordoned off to allow crews to remove hot coals left on the ground.
In a warning issued on social media on Tuesday, East Lothian rangers said the fire had thought to have been started by the BBQ coals being ditched on the dunes.

With further warm weather set to arrive in Edinburgh and the Lothians this week, they said:

"Campfires and BBQs are very appealing, especially in great weather, but after a prolonged period of dry weather we are are at HIGH RISK OF FIRE and therefore strongly advise against them.
"When safe to do so, fires should be small, kept under control, ON THE BEACH ONLY well away from the dunes and supervised at all times. When finished the fire should be extinguished completely with water (not sand) and any trace of the fire removed before leaving."
Edinburgh and parts of the Lothians are expected to reach impressive temperatures this week, with Thursday's average forecasted to be 23 degrees.
