A bank in East Lothian is set to close, leaving residents a 20-minute drive from their nearest in-person branch.
The Bank of Scotland on Dunbar High Street is due to close on May 21, 2024. This comes after a 'fall in visitors' with users opting for mobile and online banking options.
Lloyds Banking Group, who own the Bank of Scotland, have said they are working with the local community to decide how to move forward with the Community Banker visits - which would see a travelling van stop off in the area on certain days.

A Bank of Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “As many customers now choose to bank online or through their mobile app, visits to our Dunbar branch have fallen over recent years. The local Post Office offers everyday banking, with cash also available at close by free-to-use ATMs, alongside other ways to bank such as online, phone and mobile banking services."
According to Lloyds, 77 per cent of customers have moved on to mobile or online banking. They've also recommended those who still use in-person services to access the nearby Post Office, which sits a three minute walk away from the Bank of Scotland in Dunbar.
Lloyds added: "In the run up to the branch closure, branch staff will be on-hand to offer support and guidance on the ways customers can bank with us.
"After the branch closes we will have a Community Banker visit the area, who will continue to offer face to face support for as long as the community needs it. We will discuss with local communities which locations would be appropriate for our Community Banker to set up in, and on which days."
This comes just weeks after the Bank of Scotland announced an Edinburgh city centre branch would also be closing. The Royal Mile branch joined the Shandwick Place and Barnton locations as outlets that fell victim to a lack of use.
Elsewhere, in the Lothians, the last remaining Bank of Scotland in the East Lothian town of Tranent is to close on July 27, leaving locals devastated. In West Lothian, Broxburn's Bank of Scotland is to close on August 9.
