East Belfast woman transforms homes with deep cleaning business after quitting job

An East Belfast woman quit her job at Halifax so that she can clean the homes of others who are in need of desperate help.

Kirsty Quinn started her cleaning business Klass Cleans in December last year as a part time way of making a little bit of extra money but found that her services were in so much demand she has left her previous job in Halifax to focus on the venture full time.

She says cleaning has always been something that she has done to relax her and take her mind off things if she was having a tough time and she enjoys seeing how a fresh and clean home can boost the spirits of others.

In the first few months that she has started the business, Kirsty says that she has been primarily contacted by "extreme cases" which require a complete deep clean. She says many of the people that she has helped have been struggling with a disability or their mental health and haven't been able to keep on top of their household cleaning.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Kirsty said: "I started Klass Cleans in December as a part time business but quickly found that I needed to dedicate more time to it due to the amount of people contacting me. I then handed in my notice at Halifax and have been focusing on it full time now.

"The main type of work I have been doing have been deep cleans where an awful lot of work is needed to bring the house back to what it once was, but the feedback I have had so far has been amazing.

"I have worked with some extreme cases where families have contacted me worried about a loved one who may be struggling with their mental health or are a bit of a hoarder and I always try to put their comfort first because I know it can be a bit intrusive having a stranger coming into your home to clean.

"Cleaning has always been something that I have used to fall back on when I am going through a tough time. If I am ever down I throw myself into some cleaning and it has a great effect on my mental health and I love being able to give others a bit of a boost once I have finished with their homes."
