East Ayrshire travel agent celebrates 50 years in business with massive £10,000 holiday giveaway

An Ayrshire travel agent is celebrating a special milestone with a generous giveaway.

It’s party time as the Kilmarnock branch of Stewart Travel marks the company’s 50th anniversary in style – by giving away £10,000 worth of holiday vouchers.

To mark the occasion, staff celebrated with cake and fizz and launched a prize draw giving one lucky client the chance to win a £5,000 holiday. Fifty runners-up will win a £100 holiday voucher, bringing the total giveaway to £10,000.

Entries are open until Wednesday, August 31 and vouchers can be used in full or part-payment for any holiday package. Stewart Travel is also offering £50 off all holidays booked by the end of June.

And business is "busier than ever" according to the firm’s director of retail, Linda Boyd.

Back in 1972 when the firm’s first store opened in Prestwick, Donny Osmond was top of the charts, Marlon Brando was starring in The Godfather and Ceylon was re-named Sri Lanka.

Taking a trip down memory lane, boss Linda said: “It’s hard to believe but in those days you could have picked up an all-inclusive holiday for just £50-a-head and bell-bottom trousers and miniskirts were in vogue.”

But she said: “While fashions may have changed some things stay the same – our award-winning travel is still here to cut through the clutter and help find clients the perfect holidays.”

Stewart Travel won best independent travel agency at the consumer-voted British Travel Awards in 2019; best high street travel agency at the most recent awards in 2020, and hopes to strike gold again in this, its 50th year.

Linda added: “We are busier than ever right now. But we’re also especially proud every branch has become a part of their community.”
