A County Durham teenager who fled from court has been remanded following his guilty pleas after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Tyler Ophield left Durham Crown Court before he was due to appear for a plea hearing last week over a number of charges and a warrant was issued for his arrest by Judge Ray Singh. The 19-year-old was soon arrested by police but was said to be in hospital.
But Ophield was later presented at the court on Friday, May 20, when the charges were formally put to him. Ophield, of Glebe Avenue, Easington Colliery, admitted burglary with intent to steal on April 10 and also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking of a Jeep Patriot and a Mercedes Sprinter at Peterlee on February 22.

He also admitted attempted theft of a BMW 1 Series and criminal damage to a metal barrier - worth thousands - also said to have been committed on February 22.
The court was told that a pre-sentence probation report would need to be prepared before Ophield is sentenced, and the hearing was adjourned to a later date. Judge Singh remanded Ophield in custody and he will appear back at the crown court on Thursday, July 7 for sentence.
Full details of the offences will be opened at the sentencing hearing.
