That's good news if you like to bound out of bed in the morning, but it might prove uncomfortable for light sleepers and anyone who shares a bed with a pet or partner.
As an H&G sleep expert, I'm part of the search to find the world's best mattress. I don't think the Earthfoam Organic Mattress will be knocking our reigning champion off its top spot any time soon, but it will certainly appeal to buyers on a budget looking to shop sustainably.

I tested the Earthfoam Organic Mattress from the end of the last summer through to the start of winter. I appreciated the absence of off-gassing and hazardous fiberglass. I only wish I'd tried the Firm mattress, rather than the Medium: that way, I could have got some extra support for my spine.

Natural fibers are ultra-durable, which means that this mattress should last you at least a decade.
- All sleep styles: the Earthfoam Organic Mattress offers custom comfort, with two comfort levels to suit different sleep positions. I'd recommend the Medium feel for side sleepers who like a bit of give, while the Firm side is more suitable for front and back sleepers in need of more support.

What's it like to sleep on the Earthfoam Organic Mattress?
- Comfort and support: the Earthfoam Organic Mattress comes in two comfort levels, Medium and Firm, to accommodate all sorts of sleepers. I tried the Medium firmness and found that it minimized my hip and back pain and felt comfortable in any sleeping position. I'd put the Earthfoam Organic Mattress up there with the best mattresses for a guest room, thanks to its versatility and affordability. Bear in mind that this mattress is a true medium: if you're looking for sturdy spinal support, I recommend you switch to the Firmer feel.
- Cooling properties: filled with organic latex and topped with organic wool and cotton, the Earthfoam Organic Mattress is naturally cooling, but I wouldn't say it's one of the best cooling mattresses. If you suffer from night sweats or hot flashes, but you're keen to go organic, I'd suggest you shop the Woolroom Hebridean 3000, instead. You get similar sturdy support with superior airflow through the springs.
- Motion isolation: like any latex mattress, the Earthfoam Organic Mattress has a fair amount of bounce. That makes it easier to get into and out of bed, but it does mean that motion transfers easily from one side of the mattress to the other. To measure the motion isolation, I filled a glass with water and set it in the center of the bed, before applying pressure around the glass. I found that the glass teetered when I applied the slightest pressure and water threatened to spill the closer I came to the cup. In practice, I could feel my partner tossing and turning in bed beside me. If you're a light sleeper in search of an organic mattress, I'd recommend the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress, instead.
- Edge support: although the center of the Earthfoam Organic Mattress is soft and squishy, the edges are pretty solid. This is good news for anyone who sits at the edge of the bed to tie their sneakers or apply lotion or anyone who prefers to sleep on the side of the bed.
- Sleep trial: the Earthfoam Organic Mattress comes with a 100-night mattress sleep trial. That's just enough time to test your bed through two seasons and monitor its thermoregulation over time. If you need more time to make up your mind, but you're still keen to shop sustainably, I'd suggest the Avocado Green Mattress.
- Warranty: the Earthfoam Organic Mattress comes with a 10-year mattress warranty. That might not sound quite so impressive as a lifetime warranty, but it's far more realistic: after a decade, you'll probably be looking to replace your mattress, anyway.

Considering the price of the mattress, I'm inclined to forgive some of its faults, including the motion transfer. If you're buying on a budget, and you're keen to shop sustainably, this is your best bet. Shoppers with more money to spare might want to consider other contenders for the title of best organic mattress.
