'Early morning' warning from police for one area of Merseyside

A warning has been issued to one area of Merseyside after police reported an increase in thefts of motorbikes.

Merseyside Police issued a warning to those living "in and around" Nocturum, in Birkenhead, after seeing an increase in motorbike thefts in the area. They have asked "all motorbike owners" to take extra care when securing their bikes.

Police said that thieves were striking in the "early hours of the morning." They asked motorbike owners to remain "vigilant" and suggested the use of alarms if possible.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We have noticed an increase in thefts of motorbikes in and around the Noctorum area. Motorbikes are being stolen in the early hours of the morning and we would advise all motorbike owners to be vigilant.

"Please ensure they are locked secure and any other security (such as alarms) are to be used if possible."

Members of the public responding to the police warning also suggested the use of motorbike trackers, which can cost just £20 online, for help recover the motorbike in the event of a worst case scenario.
