Eamonn Holmes vents 'Holly knows the truth' as he claims Phillip Schofield was 'sacked'

Eamonn Holmes has slammed Holly Willoughby's goodbye statement while discussing Phillip Schofield's exit from This Morning on GB News.

Speaking about the reported "feud" between the presenters with his co-host Isabel Webster today, the Belfast man said: "Holly knows the truth, the story is with her."

Isabel confirmed that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary would be hosting Monday's show following Phillip's announcement of stepping down

She said: "All of this comes after the big announcement from Phillip Schofield that he was stepping down..."

Interrupting her, Eamonn remarked: "Please, let's stop this, he was sacked."

"All this nonsense about, 'I've decided to step down' I'm sure you did," he sarcastically continued, Mirror UK reports.

"Now here's your P45, now step down. Why do we propagate this language? 'I've decided to step down' and [Holly] says the couch won't feel the same without him people there. Well she wanted him not there, so why is she moaning about the couch not feeling the same for? They deserve each other."

GB News viewers applauded Eamonn's blunt remarks, praising his honesty.

One person tweeted: "Good old @EamonnHolmes no hold barred and straight to the point."

Another wrote: "Well done Eamonn."

A third added: "Go Eamonn have your say! So real!!"

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby (ITV)

On Saturday, Holly shared a statement on Instagram addressing her former co-host's exit. She said: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”

Meanwhile, Phillip's statement failed to address Holly as he said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
