A former presenter of ITV's This Morning has said that Philip Schofield has "finally been caught out" but that he "is not the only guilty party" over what happened. In a lengthy statement, Phil admitted that he was involved in an affair with a younger male employee at ITV, before announcing he was quitting the network for good.
In the apology, he stated: "I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship.
"That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over". Former colleagues of the presenter have broken their silence on the matter, including Eamonn Holmes who previously hosted the morning talk show with his wife Ruth Langsford, reports The Daily Record.

The 64 year old wrote: "Schofield has finally been caught out ... But he's not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was ...and NEVER once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people."
This is not the first time that Eamonn has shared his views on Philip, as he also shared criticism when Schofield announced he was stepping down from This Morning last week.
During a segment of GB News on Monday, he also discussed the reported "feud" between Phil and co-host Holly Willoughby. Talking to co-host Isabel Webster he said: "Holly knows the truth, the story is with her."
Following the chat, Isabel confirmed that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were to host the next This Morning show. She said: "All of this comes after the big announcement from Phillip Schofield that he was stepping down..."
However, Eamonn interupted stating: "Please, let's stop this, he was sacked." He continued: "All this nonsense about, 'I've decided to step down' I'm sure you did.
"Now here's your P45, now step down. Why do we propagate this language? 'I've decided to step down' and [Holly] says the couch won't feel the same without him there.
"Well she wanted him not there, so why is she moaning about the couch not feeling the same for? They deserve each other."
Many other celebrities have also shared their reaction following Philip's recent admission. Piers Morgan tweeted: "Blimey..." with a shocked emoji as he re-shared a tweet about the news.
When the news broke, Vanessa Feltz was actually live on GB news alongside guest Nigel Pauley, but she managed to remain composed during the chat and nodded along with the discussion. . Nigel suggested the statement meant that there might be more "revelations and some more negativity coming out."
He explained: " If an agent drops someone and uses the words honesty and integrity, that's not good." Former This Morning resident Dr Ranj Singh added: "A storm is coming..."
