Eamonn Holmes reacts to Phillip Schofield's This Morning exit with 'cryptic' Twitter post

Eamonn Holmes has made what fans perceived to be a 'cryptic' dig at Phillip Schofield, in response to his former colleague leaving This Morning. And his reaction to the big news came days after Eamonn accused Phillip and co-star Holly Willoughby of 'faking' their chemistry for cameras.

After weeks of speculation surrounding both him and Holly, Phillip took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon to announce that he was walking away from his This Morning role, a job he'd held for over 20 years. In his statement, Phillip acknowledged that as he continued to talk about big news stories on the show, This Morning 'had become the story' and he appreciated ITV bosses' stance that the situation as it stood could not go on.

Phillip told his social media followers he'd be back on TV for next month's British Soap Awards, with ITV also revealing he'd been lined up to host another big show for them.

Many fellow TV stars reacted to Phillip's news and, while not addressing out right, Eamonn appeared to elude to it in a Twitter post, which featured a photo of him and his granddaughter. Above the picture, the former This Morning host, who now anchors GB News' breakfast bulletin, wrote: "Pappa got a smacker. Thank u Emilia. All in all that rounded off what turned out to be a good day."

Eamonn's followers were quick to respond to the tweet, with one commenting: "I see what you did there. Love it" and another replying: "Well played sir well played."

Eamonn's tweet was posted just days after he took a public dig at Phillip and Holly on GB News, alleging they 'faked' their frie dship for TV and should have won an acting award at the TV BAFTAs. Describing This Morning as 'an institution,' he added that it didn't matter who hosted the show.
