Eamonn Holmes pays touching tribute to his late mum Josie on his 63rd birthday

Eamonn Holmes said he and his late mother will 'always be joined at the hip' as he paid tribute to her on his birthday.

His mother Josie died at the age of 93 last month and was laid to rest in Belfast.

He took to social media on his 63rd birthday on Saturday, the day before what would have been her 94th birthday.

The TV presenter shared a picture of himself sitting with his arm around his late mother as they smiled for the camera.

"So my Birthday today and Mum's tomorrow. She passed away just 2 weeks short of her 94th but we shall always be joined at the hip," he said. "Sagittarians. Always too alike."

His friends and followers took to the comment section to wish him a happy birthday.

"What a lovely picture and always together with her at this time E xx," Carol Vorderman wrote.

Drag Queen Baga Chipz commented: "Happy birthday, sending love x," while Laura Whitmore simply wished him a happy birthday.

"Same day as my late mum," Loose Women's Denise Welch said.

One user posted: "Happy Birthday @eamonnholmes thinking of you and sending lots of love."

Following her funeral last month, Eamonn took to Twitter to thank fans for their unwavering support.

"To all you genuinely good people who have offered me such kindness and comfort over the death of my Mother, I read all your messages and am genuinely overwhelmed and humbled," he said.

"Thank you from the bottom my Heart . We lay her to Rest this morning."

Eamonn recently had surgery on his back and is said to have been unable to attend the service in person due to ill health, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

He is believed to have said in the message: "She was the best, we could not have had a better mummy, and daddy could not have had a better wife.

"He adored you, and you him, your pain for the 31 years since he left us has been tough.

"He called you "My queen, my queen, my Josephine" - and you certainly ruled the roost."

Eamonn told the news of his mother's passing with a photo of her waving goodbye in a social media post.

He said she was finally reunited with his dad, which he said was the family's "only consolation".
