Irish broadcaster Eamonn Holmes has described how help came in the most unlikely of places upon starting his battle with chronic pain. Over the last year, the 63-year-old former This Morning presenter has undergone a number of different treatments in order to deal with the difficult condition.
Amongst other health problems, Eamonn has been suffering from a dislocated pelvis and a trapped sciatic nerve. He now uses a walking stick after he slipped three discs in his back which have affected the movement of his right leg.
Last September, Eamonn also underwent spinal surgery.. Tragedy struck once again for the TV star as during recovery from surgery, he had a fall that left him with a broken shoulder. Speaking in his first interview since the series of unfortunate events, Eamonn told The Daily Mail how a member of the band, S Club 7, helped to get him back on his feet.

Eamonn told the publication that he was contacted by singer Jo O’Meara, who also suffers from extensive back problems. Earlier this year, O’Meara opened up about her own health problems during a chat on Loose Women.
Speaking to the panelists on the ITV show, she said: “There were some days when you just didn't really see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm a lot better than what I was. It's been a really rough few months.”
Of O’Meara’s support, Eamonn said: “She got in touch to say she had the same disc problems I did and had just had surgery with a German surgeon. I asked if she could pass on his details, because by now I was desperate.”
After contacting O’Meara’s surgeon, Eamonn went under the knife in late September. “It went well — the doctor tidied things up, and generally the pain has gone, which is brilliant. The flip side is that it has now left me with an issue in my left leg, which would collapse unexpectedly.” For more TV and showbiz stories, subscribe to our newsletter here.
