Eamonn Holmes on his 'hellish few weeks' after falling down stairs following surgery

Eamonn Holmes has spoken of his "hellish few weeks" after he fractured his shoulder in another health blow.

The TV presenter fell down the stairs while recovering from a major operation on his back, and is not expected to return to GB News as a host on its breakfast show until the new year.

Appearing on GB News today, Eamonn gave an update on his health, and said he is trying to look on the bright side.

He told the network: "Last month I suffered a fall at home while I was recovering from my back operation and fractured my shoulder.

"It was a massive setback and means I’m going to need to take some extra time off to get myself better.

"It’s been a hellish few weeks. But day by day I’m improving, and I am remaining positive and trying to look on the bright side."

The former This Morning host thanked fans for their messages of support.

"I can’t say a big enough thank you to everyone who has sent me lovely messages, they’ve really cheered me up and kept me going,’ he said.

A determined Eamonn said: "One thing I’ve noticed is just how many other people out there are suffering from chronic pain, and I am determined to keep speaking up on their behalf."

Co-presenter Isobel Webster said she can't wait for Eamonn to be by her side once more.

"I know how much our audience is missing Eamonn, and I am too," she said.

"It has been heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. Eamonn has had such a run of bad luck, and to suffer in the way he has been."

Isobel continued: "But I also know how hard he is working to get back to his best. I can’t wait to see him return, fighting fit, and back where he belongs – sitting alongside me on GB News."

The veteran broadcaster had previously been off the airwaves after undergoing an operation in September in a bid to ease the "pain and restrictions" he had been suffering from for over 18 months.

The star recently opened up about feeling "humiliated" after struggling to walk before covering the late Queen Elizabeth's funeral due to his condition.

Just weeks after his first operation, during an appearance on GB News, he told Isabel: "You're one of my dearest friends in life Isabel, and you go above and beyond the call of duty.

"I mean, there is such a beautiful heart with you but I mean it was humiliating for me, you took me through that crowd and I stumbled a few times, and my leg gave way a few times. And after that I was a bit humiliated really. You didn't make any issue of it, but it was an issue for me."
