Eamonn Holmes has given he first update since undergoing 'risky' surgery last week and couldn't help but mock 'rumours'. The GB News star revealed last week that he was undergoing surgery in the hopes of it relieving his chronic pain.
Eamonn first spoke about his chronic pain battle last year before he later discovered following an MRI scan that his pain began when he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis. He has since been undergoing physio and he has previously admitted that he has "been using a walking stick or crutch every day".
But last Wednesday (September 28), the 62-year-old underwent more serious action to battle his suffering. The day before his planned operation, Eamonn explained what the operation will entail. The veteran broadcaster said: "This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.

"It’s an operation that carries a 20 percent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take."
Eamonn has now given fans a health update and shared how he underwent the surgery following a "humiliating" ordeal while covering the Queen's death last month. He appeared via video link on his GB News Breakfast show to chat to co-host Isabel Webster. He joked that "rumours of my death have been hugely exaggerated" and said he hopes to be back at work as soon as possible.
"This time last week I was laying on a slab in a hospital being operated on,” The former This Morning host said from the home he shares with wife Ruth Langsford in Surrey. "I’m one week on, it is early days. It will probably be about three weeks before they know whether it has been a success or not."
He went on to share how covering the death of Queen Elizabeth II and her state funeral for the programme in September led to him making up his mind about the operation after his colleagues had to help him round the outdoor filming location opposite Buckingham Palace.
"It was humiliating for me." Eamonn said to Isabel. "You took me through that crowd. And I stumbled a few times, and my leg gave way a few times. And after that I was a bit humiliated, really. You didn’t make any issue of it, but it was an issue for me." He went on to say: "Prior to then I’ve been living with this injury for 18 months.
"Four times surgeons have said to me: ‘No, there’s a 20% risk of this going wrong. We’re not going to do it, let it heal itself.’ But it wasn’t healing itself. And I found a surgeon who felt with neurosurgery he could make a pretty good attempt on this. And he did." Eamonn added: "It just got to the stage where I thought: ‘I want my life back.'”
He later commented: "The surgeon will have hopefully cured the cause of the pain, at least in one leg. But I think there might be another operation."
