Eamonn Holmes lashes out at fan over Phillip Schofield 'witch hunt' accusation

Eamonn Holmes has lashed out at a fan who accused him of leading a "witch hunt" against Phillip Schofield.

It comes after rumours of a "feud" between Phillip and This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby after reports their relationship has "cooled".

Former This Morning host Eamonn, 63, has since branded the pair "actors" in a scathing attack, saying they should have been recognised at the BAFTA TV Awards over the weekend.

Yet one fan has called out Eamonn for "trading insults".

The broadcaster took to his social media to share a snap of himself as he detailed his "additional needs" following his recent health woes.

Under the photo, one person wrote: "I am a huge fan of you Eamonn and will continue to be. I just wish you hadn't jumped in on the Phil and Holly witch-hunt. Maybe I don't know it all, but I hate to see you trading insults."

Eamonn hit back at the fan by replying: "I think I have a lot more insight than u Lorraine."

Earlier this week on his GB News show, Eamonn said: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.

"They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."

Eamonn previously co-hosted the lunchtime show alongside his wife Ruth Langsford until the pair were reportedly "dropped" in favour of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Since September 2022, Holly and Phil have been under intense pressure after they were accused of skipping the queue to pay respects to the late Queen Elizabeth while she was lying in state.

Phillip, 61, recently explained things had "not been easy" for him and Holly, 42, leaving his former best friend "blindsided" by his unexpected public statement.

The Mirror revealed that ITV bosses would be prepared to sack Schofield from his role on the shows he and Holly co-present should viewers notice their "chemistry" had changed.

Phillip's former co-star Fern Britton has also appeared to have publicly sided against the star.

Fern, 65, made it clear that she is in no way backing Phillip as fans say his 'days are numbered' on the ITV programme.

Just hours after Eamonn called out Holly and Phil, Fern took to Twitter to announce that she had reunited with Eamonn after several years.

The former This Morning presenter, who was axed from the show with Holly replacing her in 2008, said that she and Eamonn had the loveliest catch up over the phone after he called her out of the blue.

She tweeted on Monday evening: “Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely.

“Just had the loveliest catch up with @EamonnHolmes. I think we have known each other since the 80’s when we were babies Shooting the breeze."
