Eamonn Holmes hits out at Holly and Phil as he brands This Morning pair 'actors'

Eamonn Holmes has out at Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as the pair returned to their presenting duties on ITV.

The ex-This Morning presenter laid in to his former co-stars, following reports circulating last week of a falling-out between the famous duo. A source claimed that Holly and Phil were "barely speaking" behind the scenes, and that Holly had even spoken to show bosses to "make it clear" that she would want to remain on This Morning if Phil were to leave.

However, Phil dismissed the rumours, telling The Sun newspaper: "As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We're the best of friends - as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone."

He added: "Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I've been there for her. The last few weeks haven't been easy for either of us."

But Holly and Phil's ex-colleague Eamonn, who confirmed in November 2021 that he and wife Ruth were leaving This Morning after 15 years, was critical of the pair. Speaking on GB News, Eamonn said: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.

"They may or may not be together on the telly today," he continued. "The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else," Eamonn added.

However, there were no signs of any tension between Holly and Phil as they returned to This Morning on Monday. The duo were all smiles as they introduced the show, and could be heard making inside jokes to each other in a united front that was sure to dispel any continued rumblings of a falling out.
