Eamonn Holmes hits back as fan slams him over his 'persecution' of Phillip Schofield

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has hit back at criticism from fans over his repeated comments about former ITV colleague Phillip Schofield.

Phil stepped down from ITV last month before news of his concealed affair with a younger colleague emerged, which Eamonn has made jibes at including during his breakfast show on GB News and on social media.

Eamonn, who also presented This Morning until 2020, has made comments towards both ITV and Phil including calling his former colleague out as "toxic".

Fans of the broadcaster have pushed back against the Irish star as they label his repeated jibes and comments as "disappointing".

Whilst Eamonn celebrated his breakfast show with Isabel Webster on GB news being nominated at the National Reality TV Awards 2023 with a celebratory Instagram post, some fans took it as an opportunity to call him out on his recent comments.

Celebrating the win, Eamonn wrote: "Let's face it, it doesn't get more real than us.

"Your support for Isabel and me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance."

Jumping into the comments, one follower shared their "disappointment" in the star's recent outbursts as they wrote: "I'm really disappointed too in the recent behaviour and unnecessary comments.

"Contributing to the persecution of another person, I don’t feel a vote is really deserved at the minute.

"Shame for Isabelle though."

Eamonn didn't let the criticism go unnoticed as, according to the Belfast Telegraph, he replied: "Sue, I'm sorry you have difficulty in understanding who was persecuted."

Since the exchange took place the conversation between the pair appears to have been deleted from the Instagram post. However this isn't the first time fans have called Eamonn out for his comments and jibes directed to ITV and towards Phillip Schofield.

On the same Instagram post another social media user wrote: ""You’ve got to be joking, I rather vote for Phil than you, you are a bully!!"

The second added: "If as he says he's so good then why is he begging for votes! Ealmon you've gone down hugely in my esteem, especially about your attacks on a fellow presenter."

"Disappointed in how Eamon Holmes has been so, vitriolic recently," said a third.

Last week Eamonn continued his rants against ITV and This Morning as he invited people to get in touch if they had “kissed Phillip Schofield".

Speaking to viewers, he said: “I put it to anyone watching today that if you have kissed Phillip Schofield let us know. Let us see if that figure of one grows to the figure that I believe it is probably at.

"He’s admitted he is a liar. You should see the emails, the texts and the messages I’ve been sent over the past week. I think he’s getting off very very lucky."

He added: "Like everybody else he lied to me, I was happy to stand by him until I found out that he was lying... This isn’t about him being gay, not in the slightest."
