Eamonn Holmes heartbroken as beloved mum dies but says she's 'reunited with Daddy'

Eamonn Holmes has been left heartbroken as he announced the death of his beloved mum Josie at 94.

The GB News presenter, 62, said that his mum had finally "reunited" with his dad Leonard, who died in 1991.

Taking to Instagram, Eamonn shared a photo of his mum waving goodbye as he told his followers that he and his four brothers had said farewell to her for the final time.

He added she was finally reunited with his dad, which he said was their "only consolation".

"My 4 amazing brothers and I said Goodbye for the last time to our beautiful Mum Josie this afternoon. She's at last reunited with Daddy now. That is our only consolation," he said. "We loved and will miss her so much.

"Every time I visited her she came to the door to bless me with Holy Water and Wave goodbye Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy x."

Among those to send their best wishes was Katie Price, who wrote: "I’m so sorry to hear this sending you love xx."

While Susanna Reid commented: "I’m so sorry. Sending love."

"Oh Eamonn, I’m so sorry. Such a difficult time, sending my condolences and love to you and the family xx," Dr Amir Khan wrote.

Charlotte Hawkins commented: "Oh no, so very sorry. Sending love & a big hug to you."

Eamonn previously spoke about how his mum was "completely lost" without his dad, who died aged just 65 from a heart attack while he was driving in the countryside in Northern Ireland.

Leonard's death had a profound effect on his mum, who he said has never been able to get over his death.

During an interview with Vinnie Jones on This Morning in 2020, he said: "I mean, my dad's dead 30 years and I can say that my mum is completely lost without him. She's been grieving 30 years without seeking help for it.

"A lot of people will be in that situation."

It's been a tough time of late for Eamonn who has said he has had a "hellish few weeks" after fracturing his shoulder.

The TV presenter fell down the stairs while recovering from a major operation on his back, and is not expected to return to GB News as a host on its breakfast show until the new year.

He told the network earlier this month: "Last month I suffered a fall at home while I was recovering from my back operation and fractured my shoulder.

"It was a massive setback and means I’m going to need to take some extra time off to get myself better.

"It’s been a hellish few weeks. But day by day I’m improving, and I am remaining positive and trying to look on the bright side."

The former This Morning host thanked fans for their messages of support.

"I can’t say a big enough thank you to everyone who has sent me lovely messages, they’ve really cheered me up and kept me going,’ he said.

A determined Eamonn said: "One thing I’ve noticed is just how many other people out there are suffering from chronic pain, and I am determined to keep speaking up on their behalf."
