Eamonn Holmes has finally spoken out after fans were left wondering why he was missing from his usual GB News breakfast slot. While his co-host Ellie Costello carried on solo, viewers were quick to notice Eamonn’s unexpected absence on Tuesday morning.
The 65-year-old presenter, who’s been through a turbulent few years since his This Morning exit – including ongoing health struggles and a split from wife Ruth Langsford – had been keeping a low profile. Adding to the mystery, his upcoming theatre tour was recently scrapped, leaving fans concerned about what was going on, reported the Express.
But now, Eamonn’s broken his silence with a surprise announcement – and it’s nothing to do with morning telly. Taking to Instagram, the Belfast-born broadcaster revealed he’s been working on something new: a podcast.
Titled Things We Like with Eamonn & Paul Coyte, the new project promises a feel-good break from the doom and gloom. In a light-hearted clip shared with his 779,000 followers, Eamonn is seen chatting with Paul over a cuppa as they preview the show.
“The world can be a depressing place and we are moving away from that,” Eamonn says in the video, with Paul joking: “Like bandstands.” The pair explain that the podcast will feature celebrity guests like Ray Winstone and David Jason, who’ll be sharing the simple joys in life – from childhood memories to favourite films, songs, sports, and food. “You wouldn’t believe the types of people who are going to tell us what they like,” Eamonn teases.
He captioned the post with more details: “We’re thrilled to announce our brand-new podcast: Things We Like with Eamonn & Paul! This is something you won’t want to miss. Each episode brings something unique – whether we’re reminiscing about our favorite childhood memories; chatting about the music, films, TV shows, food, and sporting events we love; or diving into interesting things in everyday life.”
The reaction was instant. Fans flooded the comments to show their support. One wrote, “I’d watch!” while another said, “Love this idea.” A third added: “What a line up… cannot wait for this.”
While he may be off the air for now, Eamonn isn’t slowing down. And if this new podcast is anything to go by, fans will be seeing – and hearing – a lot more of him very soon.
