On the show on January 3, co-panellist Carol McGiffin said: "It's nice to see you Ruth. Where have you been? You've been away for a long time."
Ruth replied: "Yeah, I've been absolutely fine, thank you for asking. It's Eamonn obviously, it's no secret that he was struggling with bulging discs, then he had a back operation, which is always a nerve wracking moment isn't it?
"Then a few days after that he fell down the stairs and broke his shoulder. So it's been a really difficult time. So I took some time off really to be at home and look after him.
"And then very sadly his mum passed away in the middle of all that, so it's been a terrible time."
Carol replied: "That's a lot of bad luck isn't it?"
Ruth continued: "It's lot of bad luck. These things often come along don't they and you go 'anything else you can hit us with'?"
She added: "Thank you for everyone who was worrying, but it wasn't me. I'm absolutely fine. And Eamonn is on the mend, he'll be back at work next week, so yeah, all good."
