Eamon Dunphy believes the Glazer family are largely to blame for the "total mess" at Manchester United.
The Red Devlis sit bottom of the Premier League table after losing their opening two games of the season, including an embarassing 4-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend.
And Dunphy can see United going a long time without winning a league title, just like their rivals Liverpool did until lifting the trophy in 2020.

He wrote in his Irish Daily Star column: "There’s a crucial difference between spending and investing.
"The Glazers haven’t invested one penny in the future of the club. Old Trafford is let fall into decay — even something as basic as WiFi is a disaster there.
"The training facilities enjoyed by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal are way ahead of those at United.
"The Glazers took control by leveraging debt and all they’ve ever been interested in is milking what they see as a cash cow.
"That has created a total mess that will likely get a whole lot worse.
"Any United fan who used to sneer at Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a title could be in for a rude awakening.
"It wouldn’t surprise me at all if United spend even longer in the wilderness."
Dunphy also took aim at new United boss Erik ten Hag after watching Brentford 'bully' new defensive signing Lisandro Martinez.
He added: "Erik ten Hag is the latest in a line of United managers that looks the wrong fit.
"Did he watch the Premier League before agreeing to go to Manchester?
"If he did, would he mind telling us of any 5ft 9in centre-halves who’ve ever thrived in England’s top flight?
"The signing of Lisandro Martinez sums up the chaos at United.
"He cost them €65m, the same as the entire Brentford starting XI on Saturday.
"Martinez was hauled ashore at half-time with Brentford 4-0 up and out of sight.
"Brentford bullied the 5ft 9in defender. What will the likes of Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane do to him?"
