Eagles sign offensive guard Max Scharping ahead of mandatory minicamp

NFL teams can never have enough offensive line depth, and just 24 hours before the start of mandatory minicamp, the Eagles signed offensive guard Max Scharping on a one-year deal.

Scharping has 33 career starts and brings more versatility and depth to the offensive line group.

Scharping, a sixth-year player out of Northern Illinois University, was originally a second-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2019. He spent his first three seasons (2019-21) with Houston before being acquired by Cincinnati on waivers before the ’22 season. Scharping played in 14 regular-season games for the Bengals and then started each of the team’s three 2022-2023 postseason contests at right guard.

He’ll join Tyler Steen, Matt Hennessy, Trevor Keegan, and others in a competition for snaps at right guard.
