Eagles reportedly expected to inquire about trade for Jeremy Chinn

The Philadelphia Eagles have seemingly been interested in Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn even before he was a Carolina Panthers safety. That interest may have never waned.

According to national NFL analyst and reporter Cam Marino, the Eagles are expected to inquire about the availability of the fourth-year defender.

At 0-5, the Panthers remain as the league’s only winless team. So—with a rather unfavorable matchup against the 4-1 Miami Dolphins on Sunday, their bye the next week and the trade deadline in 18 days—Carolina could be looking to swap away some of their players for draft capital.

Chinn, who hasn’t been the easiest of fits in the new scheme under defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, could certainly be a trade candidate. Thus far, the 25-year-old has played in a career-low 56 percent of the team’s defensive snaps—a considerable decline from his previous three campaigns.

The 5-0 defending NFC champion Eagles could be a fit, much like they reportedly believed they were in 2020. Per FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, Philadelphia was nearly set on drafting Chinn three years back before ultimately taking quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round.
