Philadelphia is undefeated no more after 20-14 loss to the Jets, and that means an obvious slide in the Week 7 NFL power rankings.
The Eagles are looking to regroup this week after a humbling 20-14 loss to the Jets that saw All-Pro quarterback Jalen Hurts toss three interceptions on the afternoon.
Philadelphia’s defense played well in spurts, while the secondary had three more players get hurt, as Reed Blankenship, Eli Ricks, and Bradley Roby exited the contest with injuries.

Lesson learned: Injury fortunes can change quickly.
The defending NFC champions had good health through most of the 2022 season, with all 22 original starters playing in Super Bowl LVII. This season is taking on a different shape. Only one member of the starting secondary, James Bradberry, was on the field for the finish of Sunday’s game against the Jets, and the offense took a massive hit when right tackle Lane Johnson exited with a right ankle injury. It’s fair to point out after the Eagles’ first loss of the season that they don’t have a super impressive win. Jalen Hurts, who threw a critical interception late in Sunday’s loss, has seven interceptions on 213 pass attempts this season. Last year, he had six interceptions on 460 pass attempts for the whole season.
On the plus side, A.J. Brown became the fifth player since 2000 to have 125-plus receiving yards in four consecutive games Sunday. His 672 receiving yards are the third most through Week 6 in the last five years in the league.

The Philadelphia Eagles had yet to put together a complete effort this season, but prior to Week 6 the occasional miscue and inconsistent play hadn’t prevented the team from winning.
Sunday in New York, it finally came back to bite them.
The Eagles outgained the Jets by over 100 yards in the game, but the turning point was turnovers—Jalen Hurts threw three costly interceptions against the Jets, and the team lost a fumble.

The Eagles have played some ugly football so far in 2023, but they’ve continuously been able to come away with ugly wins. Philadelphia has been coming out slow and playing better offensively in the second half of games, but the opposite was the case against New York.
The Jets’ defense has found a way to make the best in the game look average this year. Jalen Hurts tied a career-high with three INTs against New York. Philadelphia’s lack of dominance has been concerning. Although they’re eighth in offensive EPA, they’re only 17th defensively, and the passing attack has yet to find its groove.

After flirting with disaster during four single-digit wins, the Eagles finally got bit by the Jets in a 20-14 loss. Jalen Hurts tied his career-worst with three interceptions against an injury-plagued patchwork secondary, and the Eagles were minus-four in the turnover battle. Even near-automatic kicker Jake Elliott missed a costly chip-shot field goal.

4. Eagles (2): Time to find something out about a team that largely tightroped its way to 5-0. But Philly couldn’t hang in the Jets’ mosh pit, and next must try and keep pace with Miami’s track team. Maybe breaking out the Kelly Green for “Sunday Night Football” will have the desired effect, though.
