Eagles placed claim on QB Kellen Mond as well

The addition of QB Kellen Mond through a waiver claim was seen as a very interesting decision by the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. Not only did that lead to the release of DE Isaac Rochell after a very good preseason but it added a player who struggled.

Not only did Mond struggle in the preseason with the Minnesota Vikings but he struggled in a similar offensive system and was cut by Kwesi Adofo-Mensah who left the Browns front office to run the Vikings.

An added piece of information came Wednesday night that adds to the connectivity related to Mond. The Philadelphia Eagles, where Cleveland’s GM Andrew Berry worked before returning to run the Browns, also put a claim in on Mond:

The Eagles have built a solid team around QB Jalen Hurts but are always looking to add talent, especially at the most important position in the league.

While nothing is certain when it comes to Mond’s development, a third-round pick that one of the best run teams in the league wanted to add are good starting points. If Mond can become a solid backup behind Watson for a couple of years or have trade value after the 2023 season, he’ll be well worth losing Rochell.
