Eagles hire former Broncos VP of player personnel Matt Russell for senior front office role

The Eagles’ front office and scouting staff retool continued on Tuesday with the addition of former Broncos vice president of player personnel Matt Russell, according to The Athletic’s Bo Wulf.

Russell’s title with Philadelphia is unknown at this time, but he is expected to serve in a senior personnel role similar to the senior football adviser position Tom Donahoe recently held with the organization.

Russell, 48, served as a scout for the Eagles from 2006-08 before leaving to join the Broncos as director of college scouting in 2009. The Broncos promoted him to director of player personnel in 2012 and then vice president of player personnel in 2020 before he retired a year later after John Elway stepped down as General Manager.

The Eagles also have hired former Browns national scout Charles Walls, who will serve as the team’s director of player personnel after losing Ian Cunningham, Brandon Brown, and Catherine Raiche to front office jobs with the Bears, the Giants, and Browns.
