Eagles’ Darius Slay Praises Jake Elliott’s Greatness After 59-Yard Game-Tying Field Goal

The Eagles staged a dramatic comeback win against the Bills on Sunday, thanks in large part to kicker Jake Elliott, who nailed a game-tying 59-yard field goal to force overtime.

Philadelphia went on to win, 37–34, and after the game, star cornerback Darius Slay was full of praise for the clutch-kicking performance from Elliott.

Speaking to reporters in the locker room after the Eagles improved to 10–1, Slay called Elliott one of the best kickers in the league, and the second-most athletic player on the team.

“I watch it because I want to see greatness, because I know Jake [Elliott] is going to make it. I call him ‘Jake the Goat,’ said Slay, via CBS’ Jeff Kerr. “He’s arguably the second-best athlete on the team… But he’s goated, man.”

“He’s one of the best kickers in the league, by far. We put trust in Jake all the time,” added Slay.

Elliott’s 59-yard, game-tying field goal wasn’t even his longest of the season–or even the month. Just last week against the Vikings, Elliott converted on a 61-yard attempt before halftime, tying his career-long.

His heroics on Sunday did not go unnoticed by his teammates, as Slay was highly complimentary of the Eagles’ longtime kicker after the victory.
