Eagles’ coach Nick Sirianni on where Jalen Hurts needs to improve most as a passer

On Wednesday, the Eagles did their best to squash any rumors of a potential deal for a veteran quarterback, as Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni both affirmed their commitment to Jalen Hurts.

Roseman said “there’s no doubt about it” when asked about Hurts’ status as Philadelphia’s starter, while Sirianni talked about the progressions his quarterback has made while highlighting where Hurts needs to improve the most.

“I just see him continuing to grow.”

“And so, what you want him to do is you want to make good, accurate throws and good, quick decisions. I think [what] you see throughout the NFL is a common theme that is becoming even more common of quarterbacks playing long and continuing to play well. You saw that with Tom Brady, obviously, throughout his entire career. Had an unbelievable career and just continued to get better.”

Sirianni discussed four components to being a successful quarterback, highlighting accuracy, decision making, the ability to create, and arm strength as the things that Hurts is either special at, or needs to continue to improve on.

It appears arm strength and the creative aspects are things that Hurts’ currently does well, and if he can improve on reading the coverage, delivering timely footballs, and escaping to his left, he’ll without a doubt then become the Eagles franchise.
