Eagles back Ryan after more online racism

Dom Sheed says online racism that targeted Eagles teammate Liam Ryan's (pic) family is disgusting. (AAP)

Livewire West Coast forward Liam Ryan has briefly had time off from the club after the AFL's latest online racism incident.

Teammate Dom Sheed has joined the Eagles in slamming the social media post, which referenced Ryan's young children.

"It's disgusting, there's no other way of saying it," Sheed said on Tuesday.

"It's unacceptable and it's disgusting to see.

"Liam had the day off yesterday to be with his family and this stuff continues to happen. It's just not good enough."

The Eagles released a statement two days ago, calling it a "vile racist slur".

"That these kinds of posts continue to be published on social media is both abhorrent and frustrating," West Coast said.

"As a club we stand with our Indigenous players, community and members in standing against this divisive and reprehensible behaviour."
