Eagles’ A.J. Brown to miss Monday night matchup vs. Falcons with a hamstring injury

The Eagles announced on Sunday that they have downgraded wide receiver A.J. Brown to out for Monday night’s matchup with the Falcons due to a hamstring injury incurred during practice on Friday. Brown was held out of practice on Saturday.

Brown’s absence should open up an opportunity for Jahan Dotson to star after the former Washington wide receiver was a nonfactor in the season opener.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni discussed integrating Jahan Dotson into the lineup. The former first-round pick was acquired in a trade with Washington on August 22. Dotson played 32 snaps in the season opener.

“I feel really good about Jahan. I feel really good about Jahan. First-round pick. Obviously we traded for him and feel really good about him. He’s a smooth route runner. Everything like that,” Sirianni said.

“I just think sometimes that position is unfairly judged at times just because they don’t get the opportunities that these other guys are going to get because when you have players like A.J., DeVonta (Smith), and Dallas (Goedert) on your team, that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

“But in the case if he has to step up and play more meaningful snaps, I got a lot of confidence in him because he’s done a nice job. He’s done a nice job. We can only judge him on the things he’s done since he’s been here. He’s done a really good job since he’s been here. Really good practices.

Brown was dynamic in his Week 1 matchup with the Packers’ Jaire Alexander, logging five catches for 119 yards and one touchdown. DeVonta Smith had seven catches for 84 yards.
