People in North Lanarkshire are being encouraged to enter a new poetry competition.
As 2022 has been designated as Scotland’s Year of Stories, there are events all over the country celebrating.
The North Lanarkshire Libraries poetry competition was launched on World Poetry Day last month and invites locals to submit poems on the theme of "stories".
Entrants will have the chance to be included in a special e-book being published for National Poetry Day.
The collection will be released on October 6 and will celebrate the power and diversity of local history, and capture for future generations a taste of North Lanarkshire’s storytelling culture.
Open to all ages, the winning entries will become a part of the e-book which will be available to readers on the online borrowing platform, Borrowbox.
And for those stuck for ideas, North Lanarkshire Libraries will be running online creative writing workshops which have been designed to kickstart both new poets and experienced writers.
Poems should be no longer than 500 words and should be submitted either as a Word Document via email to libraries@northlan.gov.uk or the online form online.
Entries are invited in English, Scots or Gaelic.
