As if helping the Colorado Avalanche bring the Stanley Cup home in 2022 wasn’t enough, Cale Makar can add being the next EA NHL cover star to his list of achievements now. EA Sports announced that Cale Makar will feature on the cover of NHL 24 when the sports game launches later in 2023 and shared the cover art, though no release date or gameplay information just yet.
Makar is widely considered one of the NHL’s best young defenseman, and it’s the latest development in what’s been a shining career already. He won the Calder Rookie of the Year trophy in 2017, the Norris Trophy for Top Defenseman, and the Conn Smythe trophy during the 2021-2022 season in recognition of his achievement as playoff MVP during the Stanley Cup run.
Couldn't be more excited to be on the cover for #NHL24. Honored to have this opportunity, @EASPORTSNHL.

That’s a long list of trophies for any hockey professional, let alone a 24-year-old, and Makar said he’s honored to have the opportunity.
“Couldn’t be more excited to be on the cover for #NHL24,” Makar said on Twitter. “Honored to have this opportunity.”
Makar and EA teased more reveals about NHL 24 scheduled for Aug. 16, 2023, so expect to see the first gameplay and, possibly, information about new features planned for this year’s hockey game in the not-so-distant future.
