With the 2022/23 domestic season just weeks away from concluding, we're starting to get a good idea of which players could be getting upgrades in Ultimate Team on EA Sports FC.
For the first time in 30 years, EA Sports will not be releasing a FIFA video game this year, with the publisher and FIFA putting an end to their three-decade-long partnership. Instead, EA will be releasing a brand-new football gaming series called EA Sports FC, and anticipation is building with EA FC 24 expected to be released in a few months' time.
Barely anything has been confirmed regarding EA FC 24, athough we can all but guarantee the popular Ultimate Team game will remain, especially considering it's EA's biggest source of income. A reported leak suggests the official name will be "Football Ultimate Team" (FUT), whilst there's also set to be a brand-new card design, according to leaks.
One of the most exciting events in the build-up to the release of a new FIFA game is finding out the new player ratings. Seeing which players have received major upgrades, downgrades, and how EA has rated the players of the club you support. It's always been a big part of the new FIFA hype.
And hopefully we'll experience this again, but instead for EA FC 24. Big surprises across Europe have seen breakthrough stars become some of the best in the world, with multiple players from Brighton & Hove Albion, Napoli and more all holding a strong argument for major upgrades to their overall rating in FUT.
So, who do we think is in line for a huge upgrade to their overall rating? Here are 10 players we expect to have big increases in EA FC 24.
EA Sports FC: 10 players set for upgrades
Victor Osimhen (Napoli)
Now a hero for eternity in the city of Naples, Victor Osimhen was the catalyst in Napoli's Serie A title win, with the Nigerian striker's 23 league goals pivotal in bringing the Scudetto back to the southern Italy city for the first time since 1990. With 28 goals in all competitions, Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in world football, and it will be no surprise if he's awarded a big upgrade in FC.
Predicted upgrade: 87 RATED (+4)
Moises Caicedo (Brighton)
After impressing in the latter stages of the Premier League last season, Moises Caicedo has evolved into one of the Premier League's best midfielders in the 2022/23 campaign, playing a big role in Brighton's chase for European football. The Seagulls sit sixth in the table, and with Caicedo rated just 70 overall in FIFA 23, we expect the midfielder to hit 80 overall in FC.
Predicted upgrade: 80 RATED (+10)
Alex Balde (Barcelona)
Just 19 years old, Alex Balde became a regular in Barcelona's first team this season, helping his side win their first La Liga title since 2019. Six assists and one goal from left-back has seen Balde become one of the best defenders in Spain, and that will be reflected in his FC rating, as we predict the youngster to jump to 78 rated, 10 ratings higher than his current overall.
Predicted upgrade: 78 RATED (+10)
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli)
Like teammate Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has rocketed to one of the best in his position following his breakthrough season with Napoli. The Georgian international was known by few at the beginning of the season, but he's now a household name after grabbing 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season. We think that could be reflected in his Ultimate Team rating in FC where he could be handed a huge boost, jumping nine ratings to 83 overall.
Predicted upgrade: 83 RATED (+9)
Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)
Martinelli has slowly been progressing well at Arsenal for the past few years, but he really showed what he was made of this season, helping the Gunners in their title challenge with 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League. The Brazilian is one of the most dangerous forwards in the league, and he deserves a big upgrade in FC.
Predicted upgrade: 83 RATED (+5)
Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)
After receiving a +6 upgrade in FIFA 23, we think Jamal Musiala could be due another big rating refresh in FC. The German has arguably been Bayern Munich's star player this season with 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, and his current rating doesn't do him justice.
Predicted upgrade: 85 RATED (+4)
Randal Kolo Muani (Frankfurt)
Randal Kolo Muani has been the best attacker in the Bundesliga this season, and we expect a heavy upgrade for the Frankfurt striker. 22 goals and 13 assists in all competitions has rocketed the striker to one of the best in world football, and he deserves much better than a 78 overall rating.
Predicted upgrade: 84 RATED (+6)
Florain Balogun (Arsenal) - 78 OVERALL (+11)
The Arsenal loanee has had an incredible season at Stade Remis, and the recently pledged United States international could see his rating improve by double digits in FC. 20 goals in all competitions has seen the 21-year-old become one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and his performance warrants a much higher rating than 67 overall.
Predicted upgrade: 78 RATED (+11)
Kauro Mitoma (Brighton)
Kauro Mitoma earned himself a TOTS item in FIFA 23 after a terrific campaign for Brighton this season, grabbing 10 goals and six assists across all competitions. The Japan international is currently a silver, so expect the winger in FC to be rated much higher.
Predicted upgrade: 80 RATED (+6)
Xavi Simons (PSV)
After struggling for game time at Paris Saint-Germain, Xavi Simons made the brave move of leaving the French giants to move to PSV, and the decision paid off, with the Netherlands attacker having a tremendous season with the Dutch club. 18 goals and nine assists in all competitions has seen Simons live up to the hype, and a big upgrade is expected in FC, with the 20-year-old one of the Eredivisie poster boys.
Predicted upgrade: 80 RATED (+7)
