EA Sports FC 25 is taking a page from Warzone and Fortnite’s book by adding its first ever paid season pass.
The Premium Pass is available now for 500,000 UT Coins (the free in-game currency you earn by playing the game) or 1,000 FC Points (the virtual currency that can be purchased using real money – in this case, £8.99).
Here’s everything you need to know about the new pass, including what it gets you and how gamers are reacting to it.

What are Tradeable Packs?
In another first for the long-running footy game, the Premium Pass comes with tradeable packs.
This means Ultimate Team players can sell the rewards on the game’s dynamic transfer market for in-game currency that can be used to buy future passes, given they fetch enough coin at auction.
How are fans reacting to the Premium Pass?
And so begins a familiar progressional system where players attempt to earn back the virtual cash they’ve splurged on the game by playing for longer.
While the origins of the premium pass as a money-spinning tool can be traced back to Dota 2, a popular PC game that features strategic team-based battles, it was widely popularised by Fortnite and later Warzone (Call of Duty’s own spin on the battle royale genre).
That begs the question: why doesn’t EA just make Ultimate Team free-to-play, too? As it turns out, fans have been chewing over that possibility for years, and are now debating it again with the release of the Premium Pass.
Naturally, some are upset that EA is adding paid passes to what is already a premium game, albeit one that is currently heavily discounted seven months after its release.
Notably, EA lowered its financial forecast for its current fiscal year in January, pointing to the “underperformance” of EA Sports FC 2025 and fantasy RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard as the main culprits.
In a blog post, EA clarified that the Premium Pass is "purely additive" and assured players that rewards from the standard tier of the Season Pass would not be moved to the Premium Pass.
“While our Season 7 Premium Pass rewards are locked in, we’ll be monitoring your feedback to make sure we deliver the best experience possible in whatever mode you play in FC moving forward,” EA said.
