A man has pleaded guilty to the "targeted" and "vicious" murder of another man in Adelaide's CBD in January last year.
The body of 46-year-old Nathan Russell was found inside a unit on Sturt Street on January 26, 2021.
Police declared the death a major crime, and at the time said CCTV obtained from the property had shown at least six people.
Dylan John Kovarskis was arrested two days later on South Terrace following a large police search of the area and of parts of Adelaide's south.
Kovarskis entered his guilty plea in the Adelaide Magistrates Court this morning.
His lawyer, Nick Vadasz, said there had been "ongoing negotiations" with prosecutors that had not been successful.
"Those negotiations were not fruitful," he told the court.
The court heard those negotiations had included the option of Kovarskis pleading guilty to manslaughter.
But prosecutors today said it was up to the accused whether he wished to be sentenced over the murder, or go to trial in the Supreme Court.
Kovarskis will be sentenced on April 26.
