Dying man, 88, tells wife to 'live life and be happy' as he utters final words

A dying man tells his wife to "live life and be happy" in his final words in a tear-jerking moment captured on video.

It was taken at the 88-year-old’s bedside just before he died in December from an illness.

Footage has now been posted online on video sharing platform Douyin by a relation with the username Xin Jing Jia You.

He uttered his last words to his wife after 64 years together and it was posted on their final day together and has since been viewed by 32 million people on social media.

The relation wrote in the post: “Grandpa has gone after all. Grandma has been crying like a child ever since.”

It reads: “He left her reluctantly one day after their 64th wedding anniversary. He left the girl whom he has cherished and taken care of his whole life.”

He speaks in the language of Inner Mongolia where the pair, who have not been identified, lived.

The dying man urged his wife his wife to be strong and not allow grief to neglect herself.

The elderly man, who is in his late 80s, is seen lying on the bed with his wife next to him.

He then proceeded to give his wife some final advice before he died saying: “If any grandson or daughter-in-law makes you unhappy, you shouldn’t compromise."

The woman filming, taking the video which is posted on YouTube, is heard saying: "promise him Grandma."

The 83-year-old woman wept quietly and dried her eyes her eyes before pausing and saying to her husband: “I hate you. Why will you leave me alone in such a hurry?”

He late reaches out and touches her face and arm before her husband replies: “Don’t cry. I don’t want to leave you but it’s not my choice.”

Another person who had seen the emotional farewell said: “I viewed it three times. I envy their love. It’s the pure love of the old generation.”

A third said: “I couldn’t help crying when the grandma said, ‘I hate you’.”

A final poster on the channel said: “He left the world peacefully and with dignity.

"He didn’t have numerous tubes inserted into his body, like those old-aged patients with serious diseases.

"He still had a lucid mind and even comforted his wife. This old man has my blessings!”
