Dying dog with cancer spends last day on earth cuddling and eating favourite snacks

A heartbroken woman has said her final goodbyes to her dying dog and sent the internet to tears. Lily the Labrador was diagnosed with lymphoma, one of the most common types of cancer in canines, at the age of seven - her beloved owner said they didn't have "long enough" together.

Carina, who runs the TikTok account @tailsofjoyco, posted a tear-jerking video of Lily's last day on earth, showing the pair cuddling each other and eating her favourite snacks before she was put to sleep. More than 3.3 million people have viewed the viral clip, with many saying they were left "crying so hard".

Carina captioned the video : "Sorry baby girl but you have to go now. Thank you for everything, we're so grateful we had seven years with you. I love you forever and ever."

The chocolate Labrador can be seen staring at the camera with puppy dog eyes, eating snacks and snuggling on the floor, then being cuddled by her loving family.

Nearly 5,000 people have commented on the clip, sharing their condolences for the pooch's owner.

"Hang in there, she was beautiful and so loved you can see it in those eyes," someone said.

"So sorry for your loss, Labradors are the best friends you could ever ask for. Never cried over a dog I didn't know before. Fly high beautiful pup," a second wrote.

"She said goodbye surrounded by the people that loved and took care of her. I'm so sorry," a third commented.

Lots of fellow dog owners opened up about their heartbreaking experiences saying goodbye to their pets.

"I lost my baby yesterday at 10:27 am in my arms. I miss her so much! She was an amazing dog," one person said.

Another dog owner has said her final goodbyes to her dying dog by giving him one last emotional hug and kiss in the car, before he was put down at the vets.

Rachel March, from Sydney, Australia, was absolutely devastated when her family's beloved pet Bowie reached the end of his life, and they chose to let him go "painlessly and peacefully".

Rachel captured the touching moment they finally parted ways on camera, so she could treasure their special friendship forever.

Rachel said: "That last cuddle with Bowie is something I'll never forget and I'm so glad he got to pass away peacefully around his family with dignity."

The emotive clip shows the senior golden spaniel cuddling into Rachel's neck for one last time, then she kisses him and he rests his head on her shoulder.

She added: " Dogs really do have their own special ways of letting us know that they're declining and ready to go."
