The Warriors will be playing for pride in their final two fixtures to end another disappointing NRL season away from home, but winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has hopes for a revival in 2023.
The club sits 14th on the ladder and have conceded the most points by any team through 23 rounds.
Effort areas and poor attitude on the field was highlighted by interim coach Stacey Jones following their 48-4 loss to North Queensland in Townsville on Friday.
And with a trip to minor premiers Penrith in round 24, the road doesn't grow any easier for Watene-Zelezniak and his Warrior teammates.
But he says they'll be buoyed by a full off-season at home with a plethora of talented players joining the squad, and especially by being surrounded by their families for an extended period.
"It's definitely a bonus being back home," Watene-Zelezniak told AAP.
"When we do go back there you just feel like you're connected to something, call it home, and having a place where you belong is big.
"We're going to be home and can dig into the pre-season with our new coach, and we'll work hard to fix the areas we got wrong this year."
With Andrew Webster signing on as coach on a three-year deal, the Warriors will have a clean slate to begin season 2023.
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Dylan Walker, Te Maire Martin, Marate Niukore, Mitch Barnett and Luke Metcalf make up a talented pool of players joining their squad.
Their former coach Todd Payten said he expected the Warriors to be a difficult opponent for any team next season, especially as Mt Smart is a fortress not easily cracked.
"There's a heap of hope for the Warriors, they've been away from home for three years," he said.
"They get to go home. They've had no home ground advantage. They've shifted several times in that period.
"Their squad is definitely getting better next year ... signings that will make a real difference to the way that they're going to perform.
"Playing at Mount Smart is a difficult place to play and they haven't had that ability to do that for the last three years. I'm looking forward to seeing them play at home for a bit."
