Pensioners are being encouraged to check if they are eligible for an extra £3,500 a year. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) say thousands of people could be missing out on Pension Credit.
The payment is worth around £201.05 per week for single people and £306.85 for couples. It is estimated that around 34 per cent of people eligible to claim Pension Credit are still missing out.
The DWP tweeted earlier today (July 4): "Could someone you know be eligible for #PensionCredit? They could be missing out on an average of £3,500 per year.

The State Pension age is currently 66 for both men and women. It is reported that around 1.4 million pensioners currently receive the extra cash in Britain.
You may receive extra help if you're responsible for a child or young person, or are disabled. For instance, if you are responsible for children or young people, you could get an extra £61.88 a week for each person in your care.
