DWP Universal Credit claimants to receive £324 cash boost in November

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has revealed that more than 8 million households across Scotland and the UK will receive the second instalment of the £650 cost of living payment next month.

Between November 8 and November 23, people who are eligible for the £324 cash boost will receive the money automatically. Those who qualify for the money through Tax Credits will get the payment "shortly after".

As reported by the Daily Record, people claiming Universal Credit will get the £324 payment as long as they received at least 1p through the benefit during the qualifying week. If you qualified for a payment, or later found to qualify for a payment, of Universal Credit between August 26 and September 25, you will get the extra money.

According to the UK Government, you will not receive the second cost of living payment if you received £0 through Universal Credit during the qualifying period as a result of your earnings. This is referred to as a 'nil award'.

However, if your Universal Credit was also taken off for other reasons, including payments of rent to your landlord or for money that you owe, you could still be eligible for the £324 cash boost.

Eligible benefits for November £324 payment from DWP

You may qualify for the automatic £324 payment if you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Tax Credits - must be claimed alongside one other DWP benefit in this list, otherwise payment will be made later from HMRC

If you and your partner have a joint claim, you will only receive one £324 payment between the two of you. Two individuals in a household who make two separate claims will each get a payment.

When will payments arrive?

According to the DWP, the £324 cost of living payment will be paid between November 8 and November 23.
