The Queen's Jubilee means a shake-up to bank holidays this year - which will mean new dates for benefit payments.
The DWP has confirmed how payments for the likes of Universal Credit and Child Benefit will work over the double bank holiday. There are bank holidays on Thursday June 2 and Friday June 3, followed by a weekend.
Due to the Jubilee, the Government created an extra bank holiday, Friday June 3. It has also moved the late May bank holiday to June 2, to create the four-day weekend.
Usually, benefits are paid on a specific day each month. But if that date falls on either of the bank holidays or a weekend, recipients get them early.

Universal Credit and benefits bank holiday payment dates June 2022
There are bank holidays on Thursday June 2 and Friday June 3 in 2022. They are then followed by a weekend - Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5.
If your benefits are usually paid on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th of 5th of the month, you should be paid on Wednesday June 1.
"If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before," Gov.uk confirms.
Wednesday June 1 is the final working day before the bank holiday period starts. Weekends do not count as "working days" in this instance.
Benefits affected by the bank holiday weekend include:
- Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Pension Credit
- Personal Independence Payment
- State Pension
- Tax Credits
- Universal Credit
Benefit payments should arrive in bank accounts as usual. Claimants will not have to do anything to get their payments early if their usual date falls over the four-day break.
