Those who live with one of 70 specified neurological conditions are entitled to a £156 weekly payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which may help ameliorate the impact of the rising cost of living. With winter looming, many Britons are expected to have to make the heartbreaking decision between heating and eating during the colder months.
As the cost of almost everything continues to increase, households are discovering that their budgets are tightening. According to the latest DWP figures from April 2022, nearly three million people across the UK are claiming support through Personal Independence Payments (PIP), with just over one in three claimants (35%) receiving the highest level of award, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The new data also revealed that there are now 384,832 people receiving support through PIP for 70 neurological conditions. This includes some 317,000 people in England.
