DWP set date for Tax Credits claimants' second £324 cost of living payment

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) have set a time for when Tax Credits claimants can expect their second cost of living payment.

Households claiming the benefit received their first £326 payment between September 2 and September 7. They were the last benefit claimants to receive the payments due to delays - most who were eligible for the cost of living payment saw their first instalment of £326 arrive before July 31.

The second Cost of Living Payment, £324, will be sent out to those on tax credits at some point during the coming winter. The Government has not yet announced when it will be, just the season, which officially begins on Wednesday, December 21, and lasts until Monday, March 20, 2023.

Who is eligible for the £650 cost of living payment

To be eligible for the cash, you must get payments for any of the following:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

What to do if you didn't receive the first cost of living payment

If you believe you should had received the first instalment, but you cannot see it in your bank, building society or credit union account, the Government says you can report a missing Cost of Living Payment here. You can report a missing deposit to HMRC from September 16, 2022, as this is to allow time for your bank, building society or credit union to process the payment.
