Easter will land on Sunday, April 17 this year, meaning that certain benefits due to be paid into accounts on Good Friday or bank holiday Monday will be transferred early.
According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), payment dates have been moved up to ensure that claimants get their money on a day in which Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines are available.
As reported by the Daily Record, due to the holiday weekend between April 15 and April 18, if payments were due to be transferred on either Friday or Monday, they will be sent early — on Thursday.
