DWP PIP claimants could get rise of more than £690 from April 2023

There is good news for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants with a monthly payment rise on the cards for April 2023. Millions of Brits who claim disability benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are in line for the boost.

An increase was announced during Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt's, Autumn Statement. It came alongside confirmation that State Pension and benefits will increase by 10.1%, the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate. Payment increases should now be actioned from April 2023.

The proposed payment rate changes have been published by DWP on the government website - GOV.UK. It means people in receipt of PIP or DLA - Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment for those living in Scotland, which is the replacement for PIP north of the border - could receive regular payments every four weeks of between £107.60 and £691. At present, claimants can receive between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period.

The figures, reported by Daily Record, mean a monthly increase of up to £63.60 is on the way for some of the UK’s most vulnerable households. However, it is important to be aware that those figures represent the minimum award possible - a single award for the lower rate mobility only, and the highest awards for both the daily care and mobility components.

People over State Pension age with a health condition or disability will also see their weekly payments increase to either £101.75 for the higher rate and £68.10 for the lower rate. There is no mobility component for Attendance Allowance, only daily care, so this means monthly payments will either be £272.40 or £407.
