DWP key dates for cost of living payments, energy rebate and more from now until end of October

The next cost of living payments from the government are due into people's bank accounts to help the people who will struggle the most with soaring inflation.

The first part of a £650 payment due to people receiving certain benefits arrived in people's accounts over the summer. Just over seven million people received £326 in July, though some may have had to wait a little longer if they were involved in a benefits appeal and won entitlement to an eligible benefit a bit later.

People who were eligible for the payment due to tax credits received the sum between 2 and 7 September. Anyone who believes they are eligible for this payment who did not receive it can report it as a missing payment if it doesn't arrive by tomorrow (16 September), Birmingham Live reports.

The payment reference will be CL followed by the customer's National Insurance number (of two letters, six numbers, one letter), followed by 0001AX - for example, if the National Insurance number is AB123456C , the payment reference would appear as CLAB123456C0001AX.

The second instalment of this payment, available to anyone receiving Universal Credit, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Income Support and Pension Credit, will arrive during October. An exact date when it will start to arrive has not yet been confirmed.

DWP guidance originally said that the "second payment will be no later than 31 October, to be specified by the Secretary of State in regulations", but this has since updated to say: "The qualifying day for the second payment will be no later than 31 October, to be specified by the Secretary of State in regulations."

People who receive any of the following disability benefits will receive a one-off £150 payment: Attendance Allowance, Constant Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance for adults, Disability Living Allowance for children, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment (in Scotland), Child Disability Payment (in Scotland), Armed Forces Independence Payment, or War Pension Mobility Supplement.

These payments will begin being sent out on 20 September, with most people receiving the payment at the start of October.

All households will also receive £66 in October and November, and £67 in December, January, February and March under the energy bill rebate. This scheme will go ahead following Liz Truss' announcement of her energy price guarantee to freeze prices before the expected increase in the energy price cap on October 1. Anyone who has not received this can contact their supplier.
