DWP issues new payment advice to people due State Pension or benefits on Wednesday

The Department for Work and Pensions has issued updated guidance on State Pension, Tax Credits and benefit payments scheduled to be made in the two days immediately after the bank holiday for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Last week, the DWP confirmed that payments due on Monday, September 19 would instead be paid on Friday, September 16. It has now advised that payments due on Tuesday, 20 and Wednesday 21 will be made as normal, however, the money may not go in at the usual paying in time, but it will be paid at some point during the day.

DWP said: “People due payments and credits on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 September will also be paid as normal, but throughout the day of their expected payment date. There is no need to call us to check, as payments will be made. We advise people to check their accounts later in the day.”

The £150 disability cost of living payment is due to start landing in the bank accounts of around six million people across the UK from Tuesday, September 20.

DWP has previously said that the payment window is between September 20 and early October, so given the latest advice, these one-off lump sums may not appear in your account first thing but later on in the day.

Benefits which may be paid throughout the day on Tuesday, September 20 and Wednesday, September 21

Scheduled payments due to be made by both DWP and HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs) which may arrive throughout the day include:

  • £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • State Pension
  • Universal Credit
  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian’s Allowance
  • Working Tax Credits
  • Child Tax Credits

DWP added that customer phonelines are available to help with any other enquiries.
