The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will begin to roll out the government's cost of living payments later this month and households across the country will begin to see direct payments of £301 land in their bank accounts. The cash boost will be a welcome addition to household budgets especial in light of sky-high bills.
Households across the country who are on means-tested benefits will automatically receive the first instalment, which is expected to arrive between Tuesday, April 25 and Wednesday, May 17. Those only in receipt of Tax Credits from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will get the money once the first DWP payment window closes.
Londoners will get the biggest chunk of the cash (15%, or more than £350m), followed by the North West (13%) but that's not to say Nottingham and the county is missing out. Some 52,700 household in Nottingham will be in line for the financial assistance. In Ashfield 16,800 households, more than any other district in the county, will receive the £301 payment while those eligible in Mansfield total 15,500. The interactive map below outlines exactly where the cash is heading.
