DWP Cost of Living Payments of up to £1,350 issued to households during 2023

Household throughout he country may be eligible for as much as £1,350 this year after the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed 2023 Cost of Living Payments.

Payments will be issued to vulnerable households as the cost of living crisis continues, with the amount including the £900 Cost of Living Payment being paid to those eligible throughout the year. The first payments will be issued in Spring.

Those eligible for the support include those on Universal Credit, Pension Credit and tax credits, with the amount increased for those of pension age as well as those with disabilities. The DWP will issue separate payments of £150 to eligible claimants with disabilities and £300 to pensioners on top of their Winter Fuel Payments this year.

The additional support means that many households will see their income boosted by £1,350 in a bid to help with rising costs.

There is no need to those eligible to apply, with payments made automatically. Claimants who are eligible for any of the Cost of Living Payments and receive tax credits, and no other means-tested benefits, will receive their payments from HMRC shortly after DWP payments are made.

Households receiving the following benefits are eligible for the £900 payment:

  • Universal Credit

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Income Support

  • Pension Credit

  • Working Tax Credit

  • Child Tax Credit

Households who may be eligible for further support

  • Pensioners
  • People claiming disability support

Work and Pensions Secretary, Mel Stride said: "We are sticking by our promise to protect the most vulnerable and these payments, worth hundreds of pounds, will provide vital support next year for those on the lowest incomes.

"The government’s wider support package has already helped more than eight million families as we continue to deal with the global consequences of Putin’s illegal war and the aftershocks of the pandemic."
